Join Out and About

Step 1

First, join our group on meetup.com. Once approved, you get access to our events for a three month “trial membership”.

Please make a note of the name you used on meetup.com – it doesn’t have to be the same here, but we need to be able to match you up. Thanks.

Important note about joining meetup (updated: March 2026). When you first join meetup, it will ask whether you would like to have a seven day “free trial” of “Meetup+”. You don’t want this, and it isn’t obvious how to avoid it. In the upper right portion of that screen, look for “Skip”. That will allow you to proceed with the free version. That’s the way it works in a browser, it might be different if you join using the meetup app.

Step 2:

After you’ve decided we’re a good match for your interests, fill out our brief application form (follows), get $10 to us (Interac e-transfer or cash at some meetup) and you’ll be given full access to our site. That includes continued access to meetups planned by others in the group, but also the ability for you to create and manage new events.

It’s just ten bucks. It helps pay for the meetup.com group and the fees we incur for this website. Do it today!

Here’s the info we need:

    Don't publish my name in the group directory
    Don't publish my phone in the group directory
    Don't publish my email in the group directory


    Once we receive your payment, your status on meetup.com is updated to allow you to create new events — full participation in our organization. If you forget, after your 3 month trial, we’ll have to remove you from the meetup.com membership.

    How to get your payment to us? Two choices:

    1. Send via Interac® e-transfer to payments@oavancouver.org. Your financial institution may ask for a “shared secret” or “shared password”. Please use “outandabout” (without the quotes).
    2. Cash payment: contact the membership coordinator (membership@oavancouver.org) to make arrangements.
